Destination

I go,
To the same place,
Where I've always been.
Where I've never been;
Where I will always go.

I go,
Where I should go,
and where I'm not allowed.
Where I am expected,
and, simultaneously, am never to be seen.

I go,
To a new place,
known by an old name.
Familiar, yet, fresh and inviting.
A place that holds new promise;
Promise of possibilities as yet unthought of.

I go,
To the same place
Always the new place,
Always strange,
Always the same.

This reminds me of a quote which I may use as the basis for my own Sunday Scribblings: "We will not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time"
(It's not up yet though, I like to post on Sunday)

Liked this.
Everywhere is the same and everywhere is different, it's a perspective thing :)

good stuff.

The entire piece is interesting, but I especially like the first verse.

I like this, the sameness of everywhere and the constant newness in every place.

Chris - your poem speaks to me in the most personal of ways. My whole life is about this very thing right now.

I love your poem and the picture with it--it represents both my dream and nightmare as someone who is agoraphobic. Nice job.
